Steps to Get PR in the UK After Studies

1.Get admission to a UK university: The first step is to get admission to a course in a university abroad. The UK has several reputed universities that are top-ranked as well. You need to submit the following documents when you apply to a university abroad.

  1. All academic documents.
  2. Letter Of Recommendation (LOR).
  3. Statement Of Purpose (SOP).
  4. Certificates of extracurricular activities.
  5. English proficiency test scorecards.

2.Get a student visa: The next step is to get a student visa. Right after you get admission to a UK university, you can apply for a student visa. You may need the following documents to apply for a UK student visa.

  1. A valid passport.
  2. Conformation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) by a recognised UK institution.
  3. Proof of enough funds in the home country.
  4. Passport-size photographs.
  5. Proof of English-language proficiency.

3.Do internships: You can apply for internships while you study in the UK. You will not only gain experience but also find funds to cover your expenses in the country. Apart from internships, you can also try for part-time jobs. A few part-time jobs are as follows.

3.Get a job: Obtaining a PR in the UK is easier if you get a job there. After you complete your studies, you can apply for a Post-Study Work Permit and work in the UK for a limited period of time. You can then apply for a PR.

Eligibility Criteria to Get PR in the UK

You need to satisfy a few eligibility criteria to get PR in the UK. You can also refer to the official websites to get updated information.

  1. Live and work in the UK for five years.
  2. You must work for a company that is on the list of recognised employers by the Home Office.
  3. If you are aged between 18 and 64, you should pass the Living in the UK test.
  4. You should either have an English-taught degree or an English language certificate corresponding to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
  5. You must meet the following salary requirements
    • GBP 25,600 per annum, or
    • GBP 20,480 per annum (if you are paid less), or
    • 10.10 pounds per hour

What are the Documents Required to Get PR in the UK?

Cost of Permanent Residency (PR) for the UK

Permanent Residency (PR) applications generally take six months to approve. The application processing charge for a PR settlement or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK is GBP 2389. You will also be charged an additional GBP 19.20 for biometric data such as fingerprints and photos. You also have the option to submit in-person applications. They can be in one of the following categories.

  1. Priority service: If you choose this, you will receive a statement within five working days but must pay an additional GBP 500. The total amount will then be GBP 2899.
  2. Super priority service: If you opt for this, you will receive the statement the very next day of submitting the biometric details. The additional fee will be GBP 800, and the total amount will come to GBP 3189.
