USA Travel Restrictions for International Students (Latest Update)

USA travel restrictions for International Students

Studying abroad in the USA provides students with an excellent atmosphere, characterized by flexible educational techniques and a robust curriculum in many disciplines of study. The number of universities available in the United States is mind-boggling. You will have the opportunity to contribute to your life experience, from internationally recognized ivy league schools to centers of innovation with cutting-edge technologies.

When the COVID-19 pandemic spread throughout the world, it was unknown if institutions would hold classes in person or if international students would be allowed to travel as per their original study plans.

India to USA Travel Restrictions

The travel ban between the United States and India remains in effect, although travel restrictions have been relaxed. India has been issued a Level 2 Trip Health Notice for its visitors, implying that you should still limit your travel to vital objectives. One of them is international studies. Other nations, Like United Kingdom, Canada, and including the United States, are easing travel restrictions for international students.

Despite the fact that US student visa holders are excluded from the US-India travel restriction, foreign flights from India are still prohibited until August 31 in order to limit the spread of the coV Delta strain.

US Quarantine Rules for International Students

  • Pre-departure test: All travellers (2 years and older) must have a COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to departure. Alternatively, they can show confirmation of recovery from COVID-19 in the 90 days before departure.
  • Post-arrival test: Travelers are recommended to undertake a COVID-19 test within 3 to 5 days after their arrival and to stay indoors for a full 7 days. Even if they test negative, they must be quarantined at home for the whole 7 days.
  • Information for those who have recovered from COVID: As long as the traveller is not exhibiting any symptoms, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) does not suggest being tested again within three months of a positive viral test. Anyone who has had a positive viral test within the past three months and has satisfied the criteria to be released from isolation has a copy of their positive result, and a letter from a doctor/health department stating that they are clear for travel can board flights to the United States.
Home quarantine: You will require 10 days of home quarantine with an on-arrival test. However, some states might have further quarantine / on-arrival guidelines. We will help you out with everything possible from the Exams Required to Study in the United States, to the Best Restaurants in the USA for International students. Please check your destination state's guidelines before boarding or Contact AECC.

US Travel Restrictions from India

The United States has reduced its travel advice for India to Level 2: Moderate, effective August 2021.

The new Level 2 travel advice which is considered safe – follows a considerable improvement in the Covid situation in India.

Early this year, the United States placed India on Level 4, advising its nationals not to go to India, which was suffering an unprecedented second wave of COVID-19 at that point of time.

Since the severity of the pandemic situation in India has now reduced, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 2 Travel Health Notice to India, indicating a moderate level of the virus in the nation.
