The Pearson Test of English, or PTE, is a standardized exam for students wishing to study overseas. To study abroad, you need to prove your English language proficiency. PTE and PTE Academic are globally scaled in scores between 10 and 90, on which students receive an overall score. The points they obtain, provides an accurate assessment of their English language skills in writing, reading, speaking, and listening.

Enrolling in an Australian university requires a moderate score on the PTE exam. A score between 65 and 75 is considered good. However, if you have scored below that, you can still get admission to one of these universities, accepting a score of 50 and above.

You require at least a score of 65 in PTE to qualify for an Australian Permanent Residency or PR. However, the minimum level is competent English if you apply for subclass 189 or 190.

PTE Score for Australia Student Visa

To be eligible for a student visa for the Australian subcontinent, the minimum PTE score you require is 42. If you do at least ten weeks of English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a score of 36 is also acceptable, which becomes 30 if you do at least 20 weeks of ELICOS.
