Abnormal Psychology

Abnormal psychology pays attention to the origin and construct of mental illness and takes into account the patterns of behaviours, thoughts, and emotions which are not usual. In this type, there is an assessment, diagnosis, and clinical treatment of intellectual or mental disorders. It simply means "away from the normal", and interprets what is impacted by cultural belief systems, origin or family, religion, and other prevailing societal norms.

Biopsychology

In this type, emphasis is put on the underlying relationships between behaviour and biology. It incorporates the role played by the brain and neurotransmitters in regulating and controlling the behaviour of the person. Professionals in this field want to know how biological changes lead to changes in behaviour. An understanding of the work processes of the brain can lead to jobs in marketing, education, technology companies, and even politics. Furthermore, in designing, researching, and producing new drugs for pharmaceutical companies, there is an integral role of bio psychologists.

Social Psychology

In this type, there is a study of what people are thinking and feeling and what the impact of others on one's behaviour is. Attention is paid to group membership, prejudice and discrimination, attitudes and persuasion, and social influence on self-esteem. In the training of social psychologists, human behaviour is combined with scientific research methods, job opportunities, and work settings because how someone views herself/himself about the world is what impacts factor-like behaviour and belief.

Cognitive Psychology

It looks at the mental processes relating to thinking, memory, and language. It also makes discoveries regarding these processes by observing the behaviour. The majority of experts in this area are working in an academic setting where they teach, conduct research, or both. Experience in this area is important in many development areas like the interaction of human-computer, software development, and organizational psychology. Many professionals in this area directly work with clients and patients. The demand for cognitive psychologists is dynamic and has fluctuated throughout the years.

Personality Psychology

In this type of psychology, there is the study of personality and its differences among individuals. Theories of personality characteristics, evolution, biology, humanism, behaviour, and social learning to evaluate the extent of the uniqueness of a person are important to understand because personality psychologists heavily rely on these theories. Proper understanding of the pattern of the development of personality and its similarities as well as variances among individuals, is most important, and personality psychologists evaluate, diagnose, and treat disorders of personality hurting the quality of life of a person.
