The PTE score report consists of two types of scoring: Overall Score and Communicative Skills Score for the Listening, Speaking, Writing and Reading sections. A detailed description is given below.

• Overall Score: The overall score in the PTE ranges from 10 to 90 and is based on your overall performance in the PTE exam. However, it is not a simple average score of the Communicative Skills score.

• Communicative Skills Score: These are the scores you receive in the four sections: speaking, reading, listening and writing. Each of these will be scored on a scale from 10 to 90.

The PTE scoring system relies on automated scoring technologies, wherein certain answers are assessed primarily for their accuracy. In contrast, others are evaluated based on formal criteria such as task-specific word limits and the quality of the response, including factors like fluency and pronunciation. There are two scoring methods employed in the PTE exam scoring process. They are given below.

• Binary Scoring (Correct or Incorrect): In this method, candidates receive one point for each correct answer, and there is no negative scoring for providing an incorrect response.

• Partial Credit Scoring: Under this approach, tasks are assessed as either fully correct, partially correct, or incorrect. For instance, if your response to a task is entirely accurate, you will receive the maximum score. If the answer is partially correct, some points are awarded, and if the response is entirely incorrect, no points are granted.

    • 2 Provides a good text summary. All relevant aspects are mentioned.

    • 2 Contains 50-70 words.
    • 1 Contains 40-49 words or 71-100 words.
    • 0 Contains less than 40 words or more than 100 words. Summary is written in capital letters, contains no punctuation, or consists only of bullet points or very short sentences.
  • Grammar:
    • 2 Correct grammatical structures
    • 1 Contains grammatical errors with no hindrance to communication.
    • 0 Defective grammatical structure which could hinder communications.
  • Vocabulary:
    • 2 Appropriate choice of words
    • 1 Some lexical errors but with no hindrance to communication
    • 0 Defective word choice which could hinder communication.
  • Spelling:
    • 2 Correct spelling
    • 1 One spelling error.
    • 0 More than one spelling error.

The Speaking and Writing section has a duration of 54-67 minutes and evaluates your speaking and writing skills in English.

1. Visit the official website of Pearson PTE.
2. Log in to your PTE account (myPTE account).
3. Click on “Activity” and you will get it.

Steps to Sending PTE Score Report

If you are satisfied with your PTE score and wish to send it to universities and colleges abroad, you will need to follow these steps.

1. Log in to your “myPTE” account.
2. Click on “View Score Reports”.
3. Click on “Send Scores”.
4. Type the name of your preferred institution and select it.
5. Type the name of your preferred course and select it.
6. Review the details and click the “Next” button.
7. Repeat the process for each institution.
