The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship

  • If you have been offered a place to study in an Irish higher education institution, you can apply for one of 60 scholarships for one year of study at the Bachelors, Masters, or PhD levels. You will earn the following benefits if you are awarded the scholarship: 
  • A stipend of ₹8,89,867.75 for a year of research 
  • Tuition and other admission costs at the higher education institution chosen are fully funded.

The Walsh Fellowship

  • Postgraduates working on Teagasc Research and Knowledge Transfer Program projects, primarily in the fields of food, crops, animal and grasslands, climate, economics, and rural development, are eligible for this award. The fellowship honours the contributions of the late Dr. Tom Walsh to Irish agriculture and food science.
  • Each year, up to 30 new places with a grant of ₹19,57,934.00 are available. The length is up to two years for an MSc course and up to four years for a PhD programme, with Teagasc Research Centre as the preferred venue. 
  • Scholarship applications are accepted starting in June and the deadline is in early September. Individual PG students are not eligible to apply, and it does not include taught (non-research) postgraduate programmes.

Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship 2020

The Department of Education and Skills funds this scholarship, which is administered by the Council. This provides foreign students with the opportunity to undertake their Research MS and PhD or Direct PhD. (MS leading to PhD). The sum contains the following: -


  • A stipend of ₹14,24,392.62 per annum
  • A contribution to fees, including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of ₹5,11,733.03 per annum
  • Eligible direct research expenses of ₹2,00,254.50 per annum
