MBBS in Australia: Eligibility & Requirements

  • You need to be at least 17 years old to enrol in an MBBS in an Australian university.
  • You must have finished higher secondary education from a recognized board or institution.
  • You are also required to provide your IELTS scorecard with a minimum of 6.5 to 7.0 to prove your English language proficiency.
  • You also need to pass the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test, aka UMAT, or University Clinical Aptitude Test, aka UCAT, to enrol in MBBS in Australia. These tests are now conducted in place of an entrance test for international students.
  • Finally, you also need to crack the NEET exam.

How to Apply for MBBS in Australia?

All medical universities in the Australian subcontinent have a standard application procedure to admit overseas students planning to study MBBS. However, the undergraduate degree program begins in January, so we advise you to apply at least three months in advance.

  • UMAT, UCAT, or MCAT score sheet.
  • IELTS (between 6.5 and 7.0) or TOEFL (between 80 and 100) scorecard.

  • SOP for Australia.
  • LORs and essay.

Step 1: You can apply for the dual degree (BMed + MD) or MBBS or MD.

Step 2: apply on the university's official website.

Step 3: The universities shortlist candidates based on submitted documents and scores. If you are selected, you will have to go through the following.

  • You will get an invitation for interview purposes. You might have to take MMI, an interview, or any other test.
  • If you are selected, you will get an offer letter to which you have to revert as soon as possible with an acknowledgement. 

How to Apply for an Australian Student Visa? 

  • You must apply to an Australian university and receive CoE.
  • Next, you must create an account with the Australian immigration officials.
  • You need to ensure that you have all the required documents in digital format.
  • Now you must complete your online visa application.
  • You will get a TRN number after paying the visa fees.
  • You may have to give a health checkup and interview.
