Difference Between UK Vs Australia in Education System
- The United Kingdom is home to some of the world's oldest and most prominent institutions, and its university system has influenced many others around the globe.
- Degrees are far more flexible than in the United Kingdom, where students choose a major and stick with it.
- In Australia, universities allow students to choose from a wide selection of alternatives during their first year of study before reducing their possibilities later.
- The application process for Australian universities is open and inclusive. Whereas the UK university admissions and clearance organisation UCAS only allows candidates to hold two offers, UK students can apply to Australian universities with five offers, including two from the UK.
UK Vs Australia Eligibility Criteria
UK
- Premier universities in the United Kingdom used to demand 13 years of pre-university education for UG courses. This law was recently overturned, and now UK colleges accept CBSE plus-two certificates as proof of eligibility for undergraduate studies.
Australia
- Almost all Australian institutions demand 12 years of pre-university study for undergraduate programmes, making it easier for Indian students to secure direct admission to the course/degree.

UK Vs Australia Admission Process
UK
- Select up to five courses from a variety of disciplines. Examine the courses available in the United Kingdom for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees.
- Verify that you meet our entry standards, which vary by course and include academic grades and English language proficiency. Some departments also provide an entrance exam.
- Determine when you can submit your application and the deadlines for your course and university. You must include your GPA, SOP, and any other documents necessary by the university while completing your application.
- Universities require students to have a firm grasp of the English language. Students must take an English proficiency test, such as the IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL. This may also be necessary for Visa. Some universities omit English proficiency tests.
- Accept your university admission letter. If you have a conditional offer, you must prove that you have met the terms of your offer.
- Apply for a visa to the United Kingdom.
Australia
1. Double-check that you've met all of the criteria.
You will most likely need some documents, but these will vary from university to university and country to country, so check with admissions teams via university websites. However, you will almost certainly require the following:
- Having an up-to-date passport is essential.
- If you're from a country where English isn't the official language, you'll need an English language competency certificate.
- Evidence of how you plan to pay for your study
2. Decide on a course and universities to attend.
Universities in Australia tend to follow the UK model, in which students choose their course before beginning their studies. However, you can apply to various courses at one or more universities. It is critical to select a course (or courses) that you are enthusiastic about because you may not be able to change your mind once you arrive. Because the number of universities you can apply to in some states is limited, be selective about where you want to study.
3. Examine your English language skills.
You must pass an English language competency test, the most common of which is the IELTS.
4. Submit college applications
You will need to apply directly to institutions, so visit their websites and speak with admissions officials to learn about their specific application procedures. For many, a personal statement, similar to the UK application, may be required to be attached to your application.
5. Submit your visa application
You must obtain a crucial visa clearance. You can apply directly through the Australian immigration website. However, there is a fee of AU$550 (US$420), and it provides extensive information about yourself and your future studies.
You will need the following documents to apply for your Visa:
- Enrollment Confirmation (CoE)
- Passport in good standing
- The results of the English language competence exam
- Financial proof* that you can afford to pay for your studies (enough to cover roundtrip flights, tuition, and a total of AU$18,610 (US$14,300) per year)
- Health insurance is widely recognised in Australia.
- Verification of criminal records
6. Start planning your journey
7. Reach Australia for studies

While tuition costs in Australia account for most international students' expenses, we must also include other fees directly tied to tuition costs. This is a new section that we've created to offer students a realistic idea of how much studying in the country will cost. These are frequently the various expenses that a student must consider while enrolling in a university. These charges are crucial and go hand in hand with tuition prices because they are mandatory.
In Australia, these expenditures typically include insurance, books & supplies, personal expenses, student service & amenity fees, recreation fees, security funds, registration & application fees, and other miscellaneous costs.

Student Visa Process in UK vs Australia
UK
If they live outside the UK, students can apply for a UK student visa six months before beginning their studies. They must first start the online application on the UK Government website before heading to a Visa Application Center in your country to submit their biometrics.
After the education provider has awarded you a spot on the programme, they will provide you with a reference number known as a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. This is the number that must be entered throughout the online registration process. Following the submission of your online application, you will be contacted with instructions on how to proceed based on your country of residence.
A parent or guardian's permission is required for a child's student visa applicants.
It usually takes three weeks for the Student Visa to arrive. Depending on where you're applying, you should start the visa application process three months ahead of time. Ensure you have a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your university before applying for a student visa.
AUSTRALIA
International students must apply for the same visa, the Student Visa (Subclass 500), which must be done online. You'll need a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) or a Letter of Offer before applying for a visa, proving that you've been accepted into a programme listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions of Courses (CRICOS). The COE will come in the form of an online code that you must input in the relevant portion of the online visa application. You may also be required to put a deposit on your tuition.
You can change courses later to study in Australia at the same or higher level. Still, if you're transferring to a lower level on the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) or a non-AQF level course (unless changing from a PhD to a master's), you'll need to apply for a new visa. On your Student Visa (Subclass 500), you can also package your studies by taking two or more courses with a logical progression from one to the next.

Post Study Work Permit - UK Vs Australia
UK
- Tier 1 (Post-study work) was closed to new applications in 2012. So, technically, a Student Visa does not include a Post Work Visa. If you wish to work there after you finish your education, you must apply for a Tier 2 visa for Highly Skilled Workers.
- Your annual lowest wage for the new employment must be £20,500 or more to be eligible for Tier 2.
- With a Tier 2 visa, you can stay and work in the UK for up to 5 years.
AUSTRALIA
After finishing their education, graduates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree may be eligible for a two-year work visa. Other graduates may be qualified to apply for an 18-month subclass 485 visa through the graduate workstream.
