GMAT Test Results & Scores

The Results and Scores section is one of the first things a student needs clarification on in a GMAT test. In a GMAT test, there will be four scores - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, Verbal and Total. Your scores in the Quantitative and Verbal sections will decide your total score on the GMAT test. You will also get a percentile score which helps you understand how better you have scored compared to other candidates who took the test.

GMAT Result Dates 2023-24

If you wish to take the GMAT test, it is good to book your slots at least two to three months before your desired test date. 

Do You Know?

You can register six months in advance for the GMAT test.

The GMAT test 2023-24 can be taken anytime during the year. There is no timeline within which you should register for the test and schedule the date. You can take the test only five times a year, and there should be a gap of 16 days between the tests. You can take the test only eight times. It takes 21 days to get the results published.

How to Check GMAT Results?

You can view the GMAT results online, and the results will be published after 21 days of taking the test. The GMAT test score is valid for five years from the exam date. If you feel you need to score more, you can retake the test after 16 days. You will receive email alerts on the results from the GMAC. The email will have instructions on how to view your score. You will also receive the test score through postal mail.

What is a Good GMAT Score?

Often, a score between 650 and 690 is considered good on the GMAT test. However, it is always better to score as high as you can so that your application has a higher chance of getting shortlisted. If you score above 700, you have a good chance of getting admission to a top university. A GMAT score of around 760 is considered the best. You need a GMAT score above 700 to get admission to well-ranked world universities like MIT, Harvard University, Columbia University, Yale University, Stanford University etc.

Average GMAT Scores

The minimum score in a GMAT test is 200, and the maximum score is 800. It is estimated by GMAC that most test takers score between 400 and 600. We have given a table below that shows the average GMAT scores in all the sections.

As soon as the GMAT test is taken, you can get a non-official score. You will get the official score after 20 days of taking the test. The demand for MBA courses abroad has increased considerably, and the need for a good score is high. You need to score above 730 on the test to get admission to top business schools in the world. However, more universities have stopped giving primary importance to GMAT scores and have also started considering other qualities of the students, like previous scores and accomplishments. 

Reinstating GMAT Scores After Cancelling

If you already cancelled your GMAT test score and wish to reinstate the same later, you have the option to do that. You should pay a fee for the same and reinstate it by logging in to your account. After you reinstate your score, the same will be sent to the business schools you previously selected. Though you can view the list of these business schools, you cannot edit them. You can purchase additional score reports if you wish to send your GMAT scores to more business schools. Your cancelled scores can be reinstated for up to four years and 11 months from the date of the exam.

Points to Remember About GMAT Scores

We have compiled a list of points you need to remember before taking the GMAT test. It will be helpful to learn everything about the test before you take it so that you can score better. These points are as follows.

  • You can view your GMAT test score 20 days after you take the test.
  • When your scores are published, you will receive an official email from GMAC. The email will also contain instructions on how to log in to your account and access the scores.
  • The GMAT scores are valid for up to five years of taking the test.
  • GMAT scores can be viewed online. You can take the test only five times a year.
  • If you are not satisfied with your GMAT test score, you can retake the test.
  • If you wish to receive your score through postal mail, you can give your preference at the time of registering for the test.

Post-GMAT 2023-24

After you get the GMAT test result for 2023-24, there are a few processes you need to follow. The steps for the same are given below.
  • Get the unofficial score: After you receive your GMAT score, you can get a hard copy of the same from the front desk of your exam centre.
  • Cancel the score: After you get the hard copy of the test from the exam centre, you can cancel your test score if you are not satisfied with your score. You should do the same within 72 hours by logging in to your account. You will be charged for the same, and the changes may be reflected only within 24 hours.
  • Reinstate the score: If you wish to reinstate or restore your GMAT score after cancellation, you can do the same by paying some fees. You need to log in to your account for this.
