Indian Travellers to Canada NO LONGER NEED the RT-PCR test from the Single Lab in Delhi

According to the current trends and recent revisions in Covid 19 restrictions across various countries, Canada and their internal provinces like Ottawa have made changes to the covid-19 test requirements for Indian travellers.  As per Canada Government’s travel advisory, mandatory Negative RT-PCR from a single laboratory in India is no longer needed. Instead, the travellers can obtain a negative RT-PCR certificate from any laboratory which is approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research.  This new implementation applies to those flying from India to Canada.

Adding to the advantages, the vaccines like Covishield and Covaxin are now recognized in Canada for travel reasons.  Now, you are not required to hold a negative RT-PCR certificate from a third country if you are taking a connecting flight to Canada.  But an on spot Covid testing is possible when you land in a Canadian airport to ensure safety. Former rules are that those who travel to Canada need the traveller to hold a Covid-19 negative test certificate from a laboratory called Genestrings at Delhi Airport before their departure.  Only after obtaining a negative RT-PCR report from Genestrings lab, the traveller was allowed to travel to Canada - which was a huge headache because the tests usually take 8 to 9 hours to produce results.  But the traveller needs to submit their reports which had been taken within 18 hours of the departure, making the whole procedure a prolonged task.

Earlier all those passengers who travelled to Canada from India through connecting flights needed to submit their negative Covid-19 molecular test from India, the transit country and Canada.  Canada continues to insist its citizens not to plan any non-mandatory travel because of the increasing numbers in the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The mentioned testing procedures were introduced to students last September 2021 when Canada re-opened their borders for India - which were closed during the 2021 delta variant spike.  This current flexibility in test centres expansion is going to reduce the time congestion and increase the chances for more travellers to enter Canada for jobs and educational opportunities.

This current announcement encourages more Indian students to study in Canada where there are immense opportunities for every talent and skill set.  If you are interested to studying in Canada, Contact India’s leading abroad education consultant AECC Global to get 1:1 expert guidance to excel in your higher studies & for a remarkable career.
